EPCOT Fountains Being Refurbished
Author: Mike
It doesn’t look like a wholesale change is coming, but the familiar plywood wall has gone up around the fountains in Future World. It’s really sort of a shame, because it’s a chance to see the amazing array of heads that make the spectacular show possible. They ought to let everyone see them. By standing on a chair at the cafe and holding my camera up I was able to get these shots. The wide one shows just how many outlets there are under the water.
The closer shot shows the reinforced cannons that handle those majestic towering columns of water. The beefy reinforcement is obviously necessary to keep the explosion from blasing the nozzles apart.
Even though the scope of the water show has been eclipsed by the fountains at Bellagio in Las Vegas, it’s still a crowd pleasing addition to the front of the park that I enjoy. I hope they also get the sound system back up to the quality level it used to be. Years ago, before the show debuted, I was fortunate enough to be in the park after hours when the Rocketeer show was being tested. With the audio cranked, great fidelity speakers and huge sub-woofers that shook the ground, it was awe inspiring. Especially since I had never seen water do that. Then again I was impressed with the leaping water at Imaginaton too.

The fountain is pretty shallow. All I want is for them to make it work at its best and add a couple of new shows. But as long as they make it like it was. That’s all I want. That stuff looks pretty rusted out or has a lot of minerals on it. Looking at that picture shows how not many lights were working anymore.

I agree. Some new shows would be nice, but I’d most like them to turn up the sound system during the presentations. I think it would attract more attention to the fountains. of course, the people that work at the pin station may go crazy from the repetition. That may be why it’s turned down now.

There Is definitely a big refurb going on - they were replacing some parts of the walls and those fountains that go around and thru the middle, the fog fountains and some other fountains were removed. It seems like they only got rid of the ones that didn’t work right. Now they are putting it all back together. I am assuming thats’ all new stuff. I also think I saw some of those big ones that pop more towards both ends. I think they added more. I wonder if they will get those twirly ones like in Vegas. That would be neat to see them come off the sides.
